Illinois Payroll Calculator 2026
Illinois withholds a flat 4.95% after subtracting the IL-W-4 allowances for the pay period: $2,925 a year for each line 1 allowance and $1,000 for each line 2 allowance, under the 2026 IL-700-T effective January 1, 2026. There is no state disability or paid-leave deduction from employees.
| Official example | Official result | This calculator | |
|---|---|---|---|
| IL-700-T: weekly $300, line 1 = 2, line 2 = 1 (table method) | $8.38 | $8.33 | $0.05 apart |
| IRS wage-bracket table: biweekly, $1,075–$1,090, single | $46 | $46 | match |
| IRS wage-bracket table: biweekly, $2,205–$2,225, married filing jointly | $98 | $98 | match |
| IRS wage-bracket table: monthly, $3,185–$3,225, head of household | $119 | $119 | match |
| IRS wage-bracket table: weekly, $1,145–$1,155, single, Step 2 checked | $168 | $168 | match |
The department's one example uses the wage-bracket table ($8.38); the calculator uses the IL-700-T formula, which gives $8.33 — the table rounds wages into ranges, so the two methods differ by a few cents.
